July 21st, 2017 A.D.

UPDATE ON THE SITUATION REGARDING KINGSTON HARBOUR TEMPORARY HAZARDS (OIL SPILL)

We have been requested by the Jamaican Defense and Coastguards Agency to let know to all able seamen, sailors and mariners cruising within Kingston Harbour or in the vicinity of Port Royal that due to oil spill from the Port Royal Refinery, it is strongly advised to avoid as much as possible cruising in the abovementioned waters.

The authorities have also made us aware of ongoing operations to contain the spill as well to ensure the safety of navigation in this area.

It is expected that cruising in those waters to resume satisfactorily by Monday 24th July, 2017 A.D. according to National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) guidelines.

The Club invites members wishing to sail in the area to get in touch with the JCA (Channel 16) for further updates on the situation.
